Lore & Background

Single mother Marie (Rosemarie DeWitt) enrols her daughter Sara in a trial of Arkangel, an implant that lets her track Sara's location, watch and hear what Sara does, and automatically blur anything distressing. The episode is about helicopter parenting; Foster, herself raised by a single mother, shaped Marie into a more rounded character and controlled the casting. It was filmed in Canada in November 2016, standing in for working-class America, with Brenna Harding as the teenage Sara.
