Nueva Ética (New Ethic) is an Argentine metalcore band from Buenos Aires, formed in 1999. The group adheres to the vegan straight edge lifestyle and is recognized as one of the first Latin American hardcore punk acts to tour globally. Critics often compare their sound to a blend of Hatebreed and Terror.
The band came together from members of other Buenos Aires hardcore groups, including Vieja escuela, Autocontrol, and Sudarshana. Initially, they featured three vocalists, following the tradition of Path of Resistance and Point of No Return. Their debut release, *Momento de la Verdad*, came out a year later and earned a strong reputation in the Brazilian hardcore scene. In 2000, they toured Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay.
For their second album, *La Venganza de los Justos* (2002), the band swapped out one vocalist permanently for that album cycle. This album saw release in Latin America, the United States, Japan, and Europe. In 2003, they toured Europe for the first time, playing festivals like Ieperfest in Belgium and Fluff Fest in the Czech Republic.
*Inquebrantable* arrived in 2006 after five months of recording at MCP Studio with Martín Carrizo (drummer of A.N.I.M.A.L.), who handled recording and sound and also played as a guest. Production, mixing, and mastering took place at Tue Madsen’s AntFarm Studios in Denmark. The album was distributed by various labels across Brazil, Argentina, the United States, and Europe. Online magazine Laut.de compared it to Hatebreed and Terror. The band promoted it with a world tour, starting in South America and then playing 58 dates in Europe, including Fluff Fest and Germany’s Pressure Festival. In 2007, they returned to Buenos Aires to perform with Caliban, Terror, and Heaven Shall Burn, followed by a tour through Hispanic America.
In 2008, Nueva Ética marked its tenth anniversary with a sold-out show at El Teatro Colegiales in Buenos Aires. That year, they released their fourth album, *3L1T3*, produced by Tue Madsen and featuring Martín Carrizo on drums and a guest appearance by Scott Vogel of Terror. A music video for the track “El Tiempo es Ahora” highlighted alarming statistics about rising drug and alcohol use in Argentina; by 2014, it had surpassed 200,000 views on YouTube.
