Dark Future Hill Valley
A nightmare reality where a bully rules the ruins of tomorrow.
The Dark Future Hill Valley is the dystopian alternate 1985 of Back to the Future Part II, created when the elderly Biff Tannen gave his younger self a sports almanac in 1955. In this timeline Hill Valley is a polluted, crime-ridden dystopia, and the courthouse has been converted into Biff Tannen's Pleasure Paradise Casino and Hotel. While the town hall crumbles and the streets run with fear, this timeline serves as the narrative heart of Back to the Future Part II, vividly illustrating how a single unchecked variable can dismantle a future.
Lore & Background
In this broken reality, the spirit of Hill Valley has been crushed under decades of economic disparity and authoritarian terror. This timeline's Doc Brown has been committed to a mental hospital, George McFly was secretly killed by Biff in 1973, Lorraine has been forced to marry Biff, and Marty has been sent to boarding school in Switzerland.
Reader's Guide
The timeline fractures when Old Biff steals the 2015 Sports Almanac, traveling back to 1955 to hand it to his younger self. This single act allows young Biff to secure a fortune, becoming one of the country's wealthiest and most corrupt men. Marty and Doc return from 2015 to 1985 and gradually realize it is not the 1985 they know. Biff has legalized gambling and rules the town as a wealthy casino boss and crime lord. Marty learns from the alternate 1985 Biff that he received the almanac on November 12, 1955, and Biff, acting on his future self's advice, tries to kill Marty. Marty and Doc flee to 1955 to retrieve the almanac. When Marty burns the almanac in 1955, the changes it caused to the timeline are nullified.
