Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor
Eat your trash. Fuel your past.
The Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor is the power source used by the DeLorean time machine from the end of the first Back to the Future film onward. While the original setup required plutonium, this unit converts household waste into the 1.21 gigawatts needed to travel to any point in time.

- Energy output requirement:
- 1.21 Gigawatts
Lore & Background
Possibly acquired in 2015, Mr. Fusion converts household waste to power for the time machine's flux capacitor and time circuits using nuclear fusion. By replacing plutonium as the primary power source, the device lets the characters bypass the arduous power-generation requirements on which the plot of the first film hinges; the car itself is still propelled by an internal combustion engine.
Reader's Guide
Once engaged, Mr. Fusion transforms the DeLorean from a fragile time-travel experiment into an autonomous vessel capable of navigating the space-time continuum at will. By democratizing power generation—turning mundane household refuse into gigawatts of fuel—it removes the logistical nightmare of finding nuclear material or returning to 1985's Twin Pines Mall.
