The hoverboard chase is a sequence of Back to the Future Part II set in 2015. Doc instructs Marty to switch places with his identical son Marty Jr. and refuse an offer from Griff Tannen, Biff's grandson, but Griff goads Marty into a fight by calling him "chicken", and a hoverboard chase ensues.

Marty rides a pink Mattel hoverboard to escape Griff and his gang. The chase ends with Griff crashing his hoverboard into the Hill Valley Courthouse; Griff and his gang are arrested, which saves Marty's future children.
Reader's Guide
The board has the appearance of a skateboard but hovers a few inches above the ground. The hoverboard returns later in the film, when Marty chases after Biff's car in 1955 and gets the almanac back.
