GReddy/The Trust Company LTD
The Trust Company LTD was founded in Japan in 1977 and manufactured automotive performance products under brand names including GReddy, GREX, and GRacer. Its product line includes complete cat-back exhaust systems with straight-through muffler design and bolt-on turbocharger kits. Since 1994, GReddy Performance Products, based in Irvine, California, has handled development and distribution of Trust products in the United States. Trust could not use its own name there because it was already copyrighted, so it became officially known as GReddy.
In August 2008, Trust consolidated its supply of GReddy products for Australia and New Zealand, leading to the establishment of GReddy Oceania in Sydney. Trust declared bankruptcy in September 2008 and emerged in July 2009 under Minji-saisei-hou, the U.S. equivalent of a Chapter 11 reorganization plan. The division producing exhaust systems, turbo kits, cooling systems, electronics, and accessory lines for Japanese and American cars is named GReddy.
The name is pronounced GRED-dy, derived from the words "GREAT" and "Eddy," referring to the strong swirling intake air of a turbocharger. The GR is uppercase and the eddy is lowercase to show the combination of the two words, which also works well for the GReddy trademarked logo.
