Background
ABC TV’s 6:30 pm timeslot, which had held The Drum before it was axed at the close of 2023, later featured Hard Quiz reruns. On 25 March 2025, the network announced Claire Hooper’s House of Games, which premiered on 21 April. The first week’s contestants included Peter Helliar, Zan Rowe, Geraldine Hickey and Bob Murphy. Hooper was permitted to adopt a different hosting style from the British version’s Richard Osman. She said she hadn’t known the show would bear her name, noting that presenter-named programs are uncommon in Australia. The series was not renewed for 2026.
