Production
The ABC began airing Silversun on 11 October 2004 at 5:00 pm daily as part of its children's lineup, with the final episode broadcast on 3 December 2004. Forty episodes were produced, each twenty-two minutes long. The program originally aired on the Seven Network in two groups of twenty episodes, then was shown again without a mid-way break on the ABC. Reruns occurred on Sunday mornings from 3 April 2005 to 1 January 2006, and again in 2009 each weekday at 5:00 pm until 17 September 2009. The ABC has no plans for a second season. Many episodes focused on adolescent relationships and issues, while some dealt with science fiction ethics, such as the humanity of the commander's clone, the challenges of a lifelong voyage, and an encounter with a pulsar affecting crewmember Pancha. Multi-episode plotlines included the illegal re-animation of Zandie, a wormhole encounter, and the infection of Commander Cyriax by an alien parasite, with the final episode ending in a cliffhanger.
