Background
On January 2, 1999, the Cardinals beat the 10-6 Dallas Cowboys 20-7 at Texas Stadium, the franchise's first postseason victory since the 1947 NFL Championship Game and its first ever playoff win on the road. A week later, on January 10 at the Metrodome, the 15-1 Minnesota Vikings ended the run 41-21 in the divisional round. The team then fell out of contention for a decade and did not return to the playoffs until the 2008 Super Bowl season, by which time it had moved to Glendale. Cornerback Aeneas Williams was the Pro Bowl selection.
