Indonesian recurve archer, two-time Olympian, upset Kim Woo-jin in 2016.
Riau Ega Agata Salsabilla, born 25 November 1991, is an Indonesian recurve archer who competed for his country at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He and Ika Yuliana Rochmawati took gold in the mixed team recurve at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games. At the 2015 World Archery Championships in Copenhagen, he entered both the individual and team recurve events. That same year, at the 2015 SEA Games, he earned silver in the men’s team recurve alongside Hendra Purnama and Muhammad Hanif Wijaya, and again won gold in the mixed team recurve with Rochmawati.
For the 2016 Rio Olympics, Ega, Purnama, and Wijaya qualified in both the men’s individual and team categories. In the team ranking round, Indonesia scored 1962 from 216 arrows (48 tens, 23 Xs), placing tenth out of twelve teams. They beat seventh-ranked Chinese Taipei 6–2 in the 1/8 eliminations, then lost 2–6 to second-ranked United States in the quarterfinals after tying the second set. Individually, Ega ranked 32nd with 660 points (26 tens, 7 Xs). He defeated China’s Xing Yu 7–1 in the first round, then upset world number one Kim Woo-jin of South Korea 6–2. He was eliminated in the round of 16 by Italy’s Mauro Nespoli, who had earlier beaten his teammate Wijaya.
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Ega qualified with Arif Dwi Pangestu and Alviyanto Prastyadi for the men’s individual and team events, and also competed in the mixed team with Diananda Choirunisa.
