Juan Ignacio Rodríguez

Juan Ignacio Rodríguez Liebana (born 19 June 1992) is a Spanish archer who competes in the recurve discipline. He earned a silver medal with Spain’s archery team at both the 2013 Mediterranean Games and the 2015 European Games. Rodríguez began his competitive career at age 19 and now trains under South Korean coach Cho Hyung-mok, practicing at a local range in his hometown of Las Rozas de Madrid.
He gained attention on the international stage when, alongside teammates Antonio Fernández and Miguel Alvariño, he won a silver medal in the men’s team recurve final against Ukraine at the 2015 European Games in Baku. Later that year, the trio helped Spain secure a full quota spot for the 2016 Rio Olympics at the World Championships in Copenhagen, marking Spain’s first Olympic archery appearance since 1992.
At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Rodríguez competed in both the individual and team recurve events. In the ranking round, he scored 678 points individually, placing him tenth, and led the Spanish team to eighth place with a combined total of 1,986 points. In the men’s team recurve, Rodríguez, Fernández, and Alvariño lost 1–5 to the Netherlands in the opening round. In the individual event, Rodríguez defeated Malaysia’s Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin and Belgium’s Robin Ramaekers before losing 3–7 to Japan’s Takaharu Furukawa, a silver medalist from the 2012 London Games.
