Jane Blackburn, a retired British athlete, competed across five Paralympic Games in several sports. At the 1972 Heidelberg Games, she won gold in table tennis women’s doubles 1A-1B with Barbara Anderson, silver in archery women’s singles 1B and the mixed St. Nicholas round team tetraplegic event (alongside Anderson and Tommy Taylor), and bronze in the women’s St. Nicholas round tetraplegic. In 1976 in Toronto, she took gold in table tennis women’s singles 1B and bronze in athletics women’s pentathlon 1B. At the 1980 Arnhem Paralympics, she defended her table tennis singles 1B title, added lawn bowls gold in women’s pairs 1A-1B with Maggie McLellan and silver in women’s singles 1A-1B, plus a silver in table tennis women’s teams 2. Her most recent Paralympic medal came at the 1984 New York/Stoke Mandeville Games, again in women’s singles 1B. In August 2021, she and fellow Paralympian Susie Rodgers lit the Paralympic Heritage Flame at Stoke Mandeville Stadium to mark the delayed Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
