Making and release
Pre-registration opened on November 16, 2011, and the game launched on November 28, 2011, for Japanese feature phones.[2] Cygames created the game for DeNA's Mobage social network platform.[2] An initial announcement on October 14, 2011, used the working title "Idolmaster Social Game".[2] On December 16, 2011, the game became accessible on Android and iOS through a web application.[2]
South Korea received the game on December 2, 2014, via the Daum Mobage platform, and this version introduced a unique idol character.[2] In May 2012, the Consumer Affairs Agency ruled that a specific gameplay mechanic in social network games broke Japanese law, and Cinderella Girls was named as a case in point.[3] After DeNA and Bandai Namco each declared they would stop using the mechanism in their social games, it was taken out of Cinderella Girls.[3]
