Development and release
Cygames developed Cinderella Girls for DeNA's Mobage platform. Announced on October 14, 2011, under the tentative title Idolmaster Social Game, pre-registration opened on November 16, 2011. The game launched on November 28, 2011, for Japanese feature phones, with Android and iOS compatibility added as a web application on December 16, 2011. Native applications for Android and iOS were released on November 17 and November 25, 2014, respectively, to mark the third anniversary. A Google Chrome App version appeared on October 28, 2015. In May 2012, the Consumer Affairs Agency determined that the complete gacha mechanic used in social network games violated Japanese law and requested its removal. Cinderella Girls was cited as an example of a game employing this tactic, and the mechanism was later removed following announcements by DeNA and Bandai Namco.
