Bolts & Blip

Two misfit robots discover their destiny in a lunar sports league.

Bolts & Blip

Bolts & Blip is a comic action-adventure animated series that ran on Teletoon between 2010 and 2011. It also aired on 3net on Sundays at 10:30 am and on The CW's Vortexx Saturday morning block starting July 13, 2013, at 8:30 am. The story takes place on the Moon in the year 2080 and follows two misfits from the central city, Bolts and Blip, who accidentally end up on the Thunderbolts, the last-place team in the Lunar League. With the help of their oddball teammates, the two friends learn what they are truly capable of in this intergalactic sports league.

The main characters include Blip, a bumbling Civi-Bot who tries to follow social rules but usually fails. He is the more mature and level-headed of the duo and often has to pull his impulsive friend Bolts out of trouble. Blip has a crush on Saedee, who mostly ignores his advances but occasionally hints at mutual feelings, eventually revealing in the season finale that she loves him too. Late in the series, Blip is revealed to be Dr. Tommy's Secret Bot with latent powers he calls his "Super Mode," making him taller, stronger, faster, and able to fly. He also has a pet mouse-like robot named Squeaker, who used to be violent but now only attacks Bolts.

Bolts is immature, impulsive, and often gets into trouble, such as when he lost a bet to Robot Mafia leader Vinnie Two-Chimes in a fixed sock fight match. He occasionally shows common sense and ingenuity, like modifying an illegal weapon to legal standards, only to have it shot down by Coach Gridiron. He is the team's jokester and once entered an illegal wrestling tournament under the name Bolto de Fuego. Like Blip, he has latent powers that turn his eyes red and give him monstrous strength. He is eventually revealed to be "Blood's Bot," the ultimate creation of Dr. Blood.

Saedee is the captain of the Thunderbolts and a prototype model prone to malfunctioning, often involuntarily kicking or losing her legs. She hides her mutual feelings for Blip while openly lusting after Tigrr Jaxxon. Coach Gridiron is short-tempered and uses harsh training routines, but he can be compassionate underneath his steaming head. Tigrr Jaxxon is the arrogant star player of the All Stars team, secretly a coward and not very bright. Dr.

Lore & Background

The series centers on Blip, a bumbling Civi-Bot, and his impulsive roommate Bolts, who are accidentally drafted into the Thunderbolts, the bottom-ranked team in the Lunar League. Blip is the more level-headed of the duo and harbors a crush on team captain Saedee, who eventually reveals mutual feelings in the season finale. Bolts is immature and often in debt to robot mob boss Vinnie Two-Chimes, but shows occasional ingenuity. Both possess latent powers: Blip can enter a 'Super Mode' with enhanced abilities, while Bolts gains monstrous strength with red eyes. Blip is later revealed to be Dr. Tommy's Secret Bot, and Bolts is revealed to be 'Blood's Bot', the creation of the main antagonist Dr. Arthur Blood.
