The series found its initial home on CBC Television's Kids' CBC block, debuting on September 1, 2008, and running through January 26, 2011. In its domestic Canadian airing, the show occupied a weekday 7:30 a.m. slot, squarely in preschool viewing hours. The series crossed the language divide with a French-Canadian adaptation titled Les Super Mécanimaux, which aired on Ici Radio-Canada Télé. The 2019 Webshort Revival

In 2019, Animal Mechanicals returned to screens in a stripped-down format that honored the original's largely nonverbal storytelling. WildBrain Spark Studios, a subsidiary of the broader WildBrain company, produced a series of new webshorts designed for the WildBrain Spark network. These short-form pieces dropped the traditional dialogue-driven structure of the 2008–2011 series in favor of visual gags and physical comedy, keeping the core concept of mechanical animals solving problems on remote islands. The vocal approach in the revival was deliberately minimal. Alexander Tol provided the occasional vocal noises for the male characters, while Rae Reilly handled the female characters' sounds. This sparse use of voice kept the emphasis on animation, expression, and the physical transformations that made the original series distinctive for preschool audiences.
