Hello Nurse Routine
"Hellooooooo, nurse!" - the Warner brothers' greeting for the studio nurse.
The Hello Nurse routine is a running gag in Animaniacs. Hello Nurse is the Warner Bros. studio nurse, and her appearance usually prompts the Warner brothers, Yakko and Wakko, into the affectionate greeting "Hellooooooo, nurse!", sometimes accompanied by leaping into her arms or big kisses.
Lore & Background
Sometimes any of the three Warner siblings use the same gag on other characters. The phrase was first meant as a catchphrase for Buster Bunny on Tiny Toon Adventures, but the writers could not find a natural way for him to use it; it is older than both shows, having been used decades earlier in vaudeville. In one segment Yakko and Wakko sing about Hello Nurse.
Reader's Guide
Hello Nurse is voiced by Tress MacNeille. In Wakko's Wish she is revealed to have an IQ of 192, though she is respected mainly for her looks. She is absent from the revival, where Dr. Scratchansniff explains that she joined Doctors Without Borders.
