Plot
The García family, a Mexican American household in San Antonio, Texas, is the focus of this series. An adult Larry Garcia narrates, looking back on his childhood alongside his two brothers, George and Carlos, and his fraternal twin sister, Lorena. The show centers on the everyday challenges of school, work, and growing up while sharing a home. Larry, as an 11-year-old, tries to fit in with his older brothers—athletic Carlos, 13, and the walking encyclopedia George, 12—while also asserting his own identity, often competing for attention with his twin sister. Their father, Ray, is a proud history professor, and their mother, Sonia, runs a strict in-home hair salon, pushing her kids to be their best. The series made television history as the first English-language sitcom with an entirely Latino cast, directors, and producers, with John Leguizamo providing the voice of adult Larry.
