Creative disagreements and frustration with their label led Sacred Oath to disband in December 1988, before the album gained traction. Mercenary Records and its parent company, Celluloid Records, went bankrupt soon after. In 2001, Sentinel Steel Records reissued the debut via an exclusive deal with the band. The group reformed and re-recorded those songs as *A Crystal Revision* in 2005. Rob Thorne and Kenny Evans continued as Sacred Oath, releasing the comeback album *Darkness Visible* in 2007 with all four original members. A live album, *'Till Death Do Us Part*, recorded during a European tour, came out in 2008. It featured new guitarist Billy Smith and bassist Scott Waite, and iTunes selected it as one of the ten best live metal albums that year.
In 2009, the new lineup released a self-titled album, *Sacred Oath*, with the single "Counting Zeros." That single premiered as iTunes' "Discovery Download Pick of the Week." Its music video aired on MTV2's *Headbangers Ball* alongside an interview. After the album, bassist Scott Waite left before any shows, and Brendan Kelleher joined for the tour, remaining as the band's bassist. The fifth studio album, *World On Fire*, came out on October 5, 2010, produced by Rob Thorne at his studio. In 2013, the original four members reunited for *Fallen*, which mixed decades-old songs with new material; no tour followed that release.
After *Fallen*, Angel Thorne Music secured a worldwide distribution deal with Caroline/UMG through SRGILS, arranging for three more studio albums and a second live album.
