History
Booker T launched the Pro Wrestling Alliance in December 2006 with two goals: give wrestlers a place to train properly and carry on the tradition of Paul Boesch's Houston Wrestling. All money from shows goes to the Fights For Kids Foundation, which works to keep kids off the streets and show them a better path. Early monthly events were held at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, Texas, then moved to the Clear Lake Recreation Sports Center in Clear Lake, Texas. In December 2007, Rob Van Dam wrestled his first match after leaving WWE, facing Booker T for the promotion; that bout appears as an extra on the DVD The Best of RVD TV Vol 1.
After seven years, on March 9, 2012, the promotion was rebranded as Reality of Wrestling (ROW) in a spur-of-the-moment decision by Booker T. Events shifted to the Booker T World Gym Arena in Texas City, Texas. The company nearly shut down in December 2012, with Christmas Chaos planned as its final show, but last-minute investors and partners stepped in to keep it running. ROW produces a weekly YouTube show, taping episodes once a month at its live events in Clear Lake. It later launched a local TV program in Houston, first on KUBE-TV Channel 57 and now on Sunday mornings on KIAH-TV Channel 39. In February 2014, a partnership with the Soul of the South Network expanded the show to 20 cities. The first internet pay-per-view aired in July 2014, and episodes also appeared on FITE TV.
The promotion runs a wrestling school with a two-year training program for beginners, longer than the typical three- to six-month courses found elsewhere. On July 6, 2019, ROW and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling co-produced an event called Deep Impact, which streamed live on YouTube and Twitch. On October 20, 2021, ROW announced its first show outside Texas, One Night in Vegas, held on November 19, 2021 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. On January 25, 2024, ROW entered a talent exchange program with the United Wrestling Network's Memphis Wrestling and Championship Wrestling promotions. On October 29, 2024, ROW became an independent wrestling school for WWE's developmental program WWE ID, which stands for WWE Independent Development.
Championships and accomplishments
ROW's two main brands are Platinum and Glory, with Platinum being the lead brand. Currently, nine wrestlers hold official championships across these two brands. Both Platinum and Glory have their own men's and women's world titles. Some championships are not brand-exclusive and can be held by wrestlers from either brand. In tables that include a "Days rec." column, the promotion officially counts a different number of days for a title reign, usually because of tape-delayed broadcasts.
