Plot

A message arrives at Quark's quarters from the Mirror Universe's Ezri Dax: Grand Nagus Zek has been taken by the Alliance, who want a cloaking device in exchange. Quark and Rom steal one from General Martok's Klingon vessel, then cloak the device itself to hide it. When Martok discovers the theft, the three are forced to transport to the Mirror Universe with Ezri. On Terok Nor, now held by a human rebellion, they are arrested because the rebels cannot let the Alliance get the cloaking technology.

Brunt's Mirror counterpart rescues them and convinces Worf not to execute the Ferengi immediately, so Rom and Quark join Zek in prison. Kira kills Brunt when he tries to free them, and Ezri turns against her. Rom installs the cloaking device on Worf's ship but sabotages it to drain power. The powerless Alliance vessel surrenders to the Rebels' Defiant, and the Ferengi are returned to their own universe.

Reception

Keith DeCandido gave the episode a rating of 1 out of 10, calling the plot predictable and the Mirror Universe concept worn out. Zack Handlen described the Mirror characters as poorly developed and the writing as jokey and disengaged. In 2017, SyFy ranked it the second-worst of the seven Mirror Universe episodes of the Star Trek franchise aired up to that date.
