Combatwoundedveteran, sometimes written as Combat Wounded Veteran, was a band that played emoviolence and screamo, with members based in both Ithaca, New York, and Tampa, Florida. During their seven-year run, they released a number of splits—including one with the highly influential screamo band Orchid—a 10" EP, one full-length album, and a posthumous compilation that gathered nearly all of their early splits and EPs. Despite touring infrequently and having a modest discography, the group left a lasting mark on the screamo and powerviolence underground. Guitarist Chris Norris now works as a graphic designer under the name Steak Mtn., creating artwork for acts such as Atom And His Package, Orchid, and Against Me!. The band’s sound was heavily shaped by early grindcore, screamo, and powerviolence.

Combatwoundedveteran formed in 1996 and operated until 2002, with members split between Ithaca, New York and Tampa, Florida. The band's music was heavily influenced by early grindcore, screamo, and powerviolence. Their lineup included vocalist/bassist Dan Ponch, drummers Jason Hamacher and Mark Muenchinger, bassist Jeff Howe, guitarists/vocalists Chris Norris and Dan Radde, and guitarist Billy Frank. They released a full-length album, 'I Know a Girl Who Develops Crime Scene Photos,' in 1999 on Happy Couples Never Last Records, along with several EPs and splits, notably a split 6" with the heavily influential screamo band Orchid in 1999. A posthumous compilation, 'This Is Not an Erect, All-Red Neon Body,' collected nearly all their splits and early EPs in 2004.
