The band financed its own U.S. tour during 1997.[1] Cephalic Carnage signed to Relapse Records in 2000 and released Exploiting Dysfunction, which included a tour with Napalm Death and The Dillinger Escape Plan.[1] Anomalies was recorded in September 2004 with producer Dave Otero and released in March 2005.[2] The band recorded Xenosapien between November and December 2006, with release set for May 2007.[3]

In 1992, vocalist Leonard Leal, drummer Anthony Chavez, bassist Tom Clenin, and guitarist Zac Joe founded Cephalic Carnage in Denver, Colorado.[4] Headfucker Records, an Italian label, put out the debut album Conforming to Abnormality in 1998.[1] The band's third album, Lucid Interval, was cut in early 2002 and hit stores in August of that same year.[5] Recording for Misled by Certainty started in May 2010, and Relapse Records issued it on August 31, 2010.[6]

What the cited sources add

A Decibel Magazine article from April 2005 describes Cephalic Carnage as playing a technically proficient deathgrind style that experiments with other genres and includes joke songs parodying black metal or metalcore.[7] Popmatters notes the band has taken satirical swipes at black metal with "Black Metal Sabbath" and at metalcore with "Dying Will Be the Death of Me"[8] A notorious YouTube clip shows the band playing "Eye of the Tiger" to calm a fight in the pit at a Toronto show.[8]
