The Brown Hornet

A space-faring black superhero from a cartoon-within-a-cartoon.

The Brown Hornet is a cartoon-within-a-cartoon that appeared on the Filmation animated series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids from 1979 to approximately 1985. It was originally a radio program by Bill Cosby that parodied the old time radio hero The Green Hornet, with the character re-imagined as a caped and masked space hero for the cartoon. The golden-garbed black superhero traveled the universe with his sidekicks Stinger and Tweeterbell, using superpowers to thwart evil and teach lessons. The Brown Hornet also appeared in the South Park episode "Imaginationland" and was referenced in lyrics by Black Thought of The Roots.
