Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Miles Morales steps into the role of New York's sole Spider-Man.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an action-adventure game released in 2020. It was developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is based on the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales, drawing from his comic book history and appearances in other media. It serves as both a spin-off and a continuation of the 2018 game Marvel's Spider-Man, making it the second entry in Insomniac's Spider-Man series. The story follows Miles as he tries to manage his everyday life and his responsibilities as the second Spider-Man. His new home, Harlem, becomes caught in a conflict between the Roxxon Energy Corporation and a high-tech criminal group called the Underground, which is led by the mysterious Tinkerer.
The gameplay is shown from a third-person perspective, focusing on Miles' movement and combat. Players can freely explore a fictionalized version of modern-day Manhattan, which is covered in snow because the story takes place during Christmas. Miles controls similarly to Peter Parker but has new animations and abilities that unlock as the story progresses. These include Venom Blast, which lets him incapacitate enemies with bio-electricity and interact with electronics; Camouflage, which grants temporary invisibility; and Mega Venom Blast, a large explosion of bio-electricity that damages nearby foes. New gadgets include Remote Mines, holographic fighters that assist in combat, and Gravity Wells that trap enemies. Miles can upgrade his abilities and gadgets through a skill tree system as he levels up. An in-game mobile app provides feedback on ongoing crimes and gives access to side missions. Miles has a spider-sense that warns of incoming attacks, allowing dodges and counterattacks, and uses web-shooters for both traversal and combat. He can jump long distances, stick to surfaces, and fast travel using the subway. Unlockable suits, based on existing versions of the character or created for the game, enhance abilities like damage resistance, invisibility duration, or Venom Power regeneration. During certain sections, players control Miles in his civilian persona without any powers or gadgets.
The narrative picks up after the events of Marvel's Spider-Man and its downloadable content The City That Never Sleeps.

Reader's Guide
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for its combat, narrative, content, and technical improvements of the PlayStation 5 version, while facing some criticism over its short length. The game was officially revealed in June 2020 and launched that November for the PlayStation 4 and as a launch title for the PlayStation 5. A Windows version was later released in November 2022. The game continues the story from Marvel's Spider-Man and its downloadable content The City That Never Sleeps, with Miles having been trained by Peter Parker for a year. Peter leaves New York for Symkaria, trusting Miles to protect the city alone. The narrative introduces new characters such as Ganke Lee, Aaron Davis as the Prowler, Simon Krieger, and Phin Mason as the Tinkerer. A sequel, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, was released for the PlayStation 5 in October 2023.
