Lighthouse War

Osea created penal units such as Spare Squadron to test the Erusean radar net for vulnerabilities, and later formed the Long Range Strategic Strike Group (LRSSG) to exploit a blind spot.^[1] The narrative campaign of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown centers on this war.^[1] Hostilities commenced on May 15, 2019, when Erusea struck Osean home ports with UAVs launched from containers and seized much of Usea.^[1] Erusea took the International Space Elevator and seized the two Arsenal Birds assigned to protect it, securing command of the skies.^[1]

In mid-August 2019, the LRSSG assisted Osea in using Stonehenge to bring down an Arsenal Bird, enabling an eastward push.^[1] Captain Matias Torres turned against Erusea in early September and threatened to employ the submersible aviation cruiser Alicorn to force an end to the war.^[1] After the Alicorn was neutralized, Osean forces advanced west toward Farbanti; later that month, both sides lost their satellite networks, causing chaos across Usea and igniting a civil war in Erusea.^[1] A combined Osean-Erusean force destroyed Arsenal Bird Justice and two advanced UAVs in late October, reclaiming the Lighthouse.^[1]

The war concluded with a ceasefire signed at the Expo City Conference in December 2019.^[1] The war resulted in an Osean victory, the fragmentation of the Erusean military, the destruction of the Arsenal Birds, and the retaking of the International Space Elevator.^[2]
