Background

Before the album dropped, the band gave away a different mix of the song for free on Facebook. That version had a new second verse from Charlie Scene and Funny Man, plus louder instruments and synths. The album came out on April 5, and four days later the song became the third single, with a music video the same day. A Wideboys remix later appeared on the remix album American Tragedy Redux.

Music video

The music video for "Comin' in Hot" dropped on April 9, 2011, with Kai Henry and Robert Corbi sharing directing duties. According to Sylvie Lesas of Evigshed, this video marked a tonal shift for the band, as their earlier clips for "Hear Me Now" and "Been to Hell" had been grim and heavy. The video opens with credits styled like a western, followed by nearly two minutes of dialogue before the song kicks in. For much of the clip, the band members appear without their usual masks, a departure from their norm.

In the non-music section, Funny Man, Charlie Scene, and J-Dog are shown working in the fields, dressed as farm laborers and speaking with exaggerated Mexican accents. They complain about harsh working conditions and the need for a break, then spot the field owner, played by Johnny 3 Tears, who has three daughters dressed like Daisy Duke. The three men eye the women, and the owner catches them, ordering them back to work just as the music starts. During the song, the band performs the lyrics while still in country outfits, working the fields and chasing girls around the farm.

They don’t appear in their signature masks and gear until the second verse. The performance takes place on the same farm as the acted scenes, with the band standing on bare ground surrounded by hay bales. The camera sometimes rotates from a low angle to an overhead shot. Danny handles the chorus, while Charlie Scene sings the pre-chorus. Charlie Scene raps the first verse, and the second verse is traded back and forth between Funny Man and Charlie Scene.
