Rip Wheeler
Ranch foreman and John Dutton's enforcer.
Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, is the foreman of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and John Dutton's right-hand man and enforcer. He has worked on the ranch for many years and is fiercely loyal to John. Kyle Red Silverstein plays a young Rip in the 1990s scenes.
Lore & Background
The Duttons took Rip in as a young runaway after he killed his father, who had murdered his mother and brother. He recruited the musician and former convict Walker as a ranch hand. Rip and Beth Dutton have had an on-again, off-again relationship since they were teenagers and eventually marry. Hauser reprises the role alongside Kelly Reilly in the spin-off Dutton Ranch (2026), which was developed in place of a sixth season of Yellowstone.
