WRC2
Support championship for production-based Rally2 cars in the WRC.
The FIA WRC2 is a support championship of the World Rally Championship, using the same calendar and stages as the parent series. It is limited to production-based cars homologated under Group Rally2 (or previous R5) rules. Separate championship titles are awarded to Teams, Drivers, and Co-Drivers, including Challenger titles introduced in 2023.

History
In early 2012, the FIA annulled the contract with WRC promoter North One Sports after its owners entered administration. Following a tender process, the FIA World Motor Sport Council approved a new promoter in September 2012, a collaboration between Sportsman Media and Red Bull, responsible for all commercial matters, including calendar formation and rule proposals. At the same meeting, the FIA announced changes to the WRC's support championships to reflect competitor interests, replacing the Super 2000 World Rally Championship and Production Car World Rally Championship with WRC2 and WRC3. Unlike the previous championships, these were not world championships under the FIA International Sporting Code, which influenced calendar and entrant commitments. For this reason, it is asserted that WRC2 is not an acronym for World Rally Championship 2, and its champions are not world champions. In 2013 and 2014, the term World Rally Championship 2 appeared only once in the sporting regulations and has not been used since 2015. Entrants could nominate rallies round-by-round with no minimum commitment or requirement to compete outside Europe.
