Super 2000 World Rally Championship

FIA support series for Super 2000 rally cars, 2010–2012.

The FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship (SWRC) was a support championship of the World Rally Championship that ran for three seasons from 2010 to 2012. It was introduced to provide a series for the Super 2000 specification of rally car, which sat above Group N level production cars and the Production World Rally Championship. The creation of SWRC returned PWRC to a production car only series and offered an FIA alternative to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Rules

The Super 2000 World Rally Championship ran alongside the WRC from 2010 to 2012. In its first year, ten WRC events formed the SWRC calendar. Drivers had to register and choose seven rallies to enter, including at least two of the three non-European rounds. Missing a nominated event meant disqualification from the title. The 2011 season featured eight WRC rallies, with drivers again picking seven; since two were outside Europe, competitors had to enter at least one of them. In 2012, the rules stayed similar, but only Rally New Zealand was held outside Europe. Points were awarded in the same way as the main WRC. Eligible cars for the whole period included the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth S2000, Ford Fiesta S2000, Peugeot 207 S2000, Škoda Fabia S2000, Mini John Cooper Works S2000, and Proton Satria Neo S2000. From 2011, R4 cars like the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX and X and Subaru Impreza WRX STI (third and fourth generations) could also compete. In 2012, Regional Rally Cars such as the Citroën DS3 RRC and Ford Fiesta RS RRC were allowed.
