Xorge Carrillo

Career

Carrillo was first selected in the 28th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by the Toronto Blue Jays out of McClintock High School, but did not sign. He was drafted again in the 29th round of the 2009 draft by the Cleveland Indians out of Central Arizona College, again not signing. He then attended Arizona State University and played for the Sun Devils. The San Diego Padres chose him in the 23rd round of the 2010 draft, but he did not sign and returned to ASU.

New York Mets

In the 14th round of the 2011 draft, the New York Mets selected him, and he agreed to sign. He debuted with the Low-A Brooklyn Cyclones, appearing in 27 games. In 2012 he played 11 games for the Single-A Savannah Sand Gnats. The 2013 season was split between the High-A St. Lucie Mets and the Double-A Binghamton Mets, where he batted .278/.331/.330 in 36 games combined.

The following year he split time between Binghamton and the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s, slashing .285/.355/.357 with 2 home runs and 22 RBI. He received a Spring Training invitation in 2015 but did not make the club and was assigned to Binghamton, where he hit .240/.318/.382 in 94 games. In 2016 he played mostly in Binghamton and also appeared in 5 games for Las Vegas, posting a cumulative .272/.347/.362 line in 85 games. With Las Vegas he batted .270/.320/.425 with 9 home runs and 44 RBI before electing free agency on November 6, 2017.

Tampa Bay Rays

On January 31, 2018, he signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays organization and received a spring training invitation, but was assigned to the Triple-A Durham Bulls. On July 3, 2018, he was assigned to the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League and finished the season there.

Toros de Tijuana

In 2019 he batted .307/.383/.458 in 63 games. He did not play in 2020 because the Mexican League season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023 he played 60 games for Tijuana, batting .233/.303/.323 with 3 home runs and 26 RBI.
