Gameplay

You, Me, and the Cubes is a puzzle game in which the player places humanoid figures called Fallos onto floating cubes while maintaining their balance. Each level is divided into six sub-levels, corresponding to the six sides of a cube. In each sub-level, the player has a time limit and must place a required number of Fallos so that every cube is occupied by at least one Fallo. Shaking the Wii Remote creates two Fallos, one male and one female, which the player flings onto the stage. Once they land, the Fallos may tilt the cubes by affecting the stage's balance. If a Fallo falls off the stage, time is deducted from the limit. After clearing a sub-level, the stage rotates to a different side and a new cube appears; any unstabilized Fallo is dropped into the void. After the final sub-level, remaining Fallos are counted and the player receives a grade based on how many remain. Later levels introduce environmental hazards and cube types with different effects. In co-operative mode, enemies called Shades appear after a Fallo falls and try to knock other Fallos off; they can be defeated by throwing a Fallo at them.

Development

After releasing D2 for the Dreamcast, Kenji Eno and his company Warp left the video game industry to focus on services and branding under the name From Yellow to Orange. Eno became interested in developing a Wii game after seeing the Tokyo Game Show 2005 reveal of the Wii Remote and contacted Nintendo. A team of about ten people developed the game, with T&E Soft handling programming, design, and sound implementation. Nintendo released You, Me, and the Cubes on the WiiWare service in Japan on March 26, 2009, and in North America and Europe in September 2009.
