Lore & Background
The game begins 10 years after King's Bounty: The Legend, with the world of Darion overrun by demons. A spell opens a portal to the world of Teana, where Princess Amelie searches for the knight Sir Bill Gilbert. She instead undertakes quests for the inhabitants, including a search for eight magical stones. The world map is divided into islands navigable by ship, with each island featuring distinct troops and enemy levels; travel to new islands requires discovering a map. Later, the player's mount gains the ability to fly.
Reader's Guide
King's Bounty: Armored Princess maintains the strategic gameplay of its predecessor, with players choosing from warrior, paladin, or mage classes and recruiting up to five troop squadrons. A new element is Amelie's pet baby dragon, which can be summoned in combat using accumulated rage and cannot be harmed. The dragon replaces the Spirits of Rage from The Legend. Companions replace the wives system, offering additional equipment slots and unique abilities. The game received generally positive reviews, with an 83/100 on Metacritic and an 80.83% aggregate on GameRankings. Critics praised its gameplay and characters but noted issues with visual and sound quality and high difficulty. An expansion pack, King's Bounty: Crossworlds, was released in 2010, adding a rebalanced campaign, two new campaigns, and an editor.
