Project Reality is a series of modifications for military tactical first-person shooters, designed to emphasize teamwork and realism in modern combined-arms warfare. The mod offers five game modes. Unlike Battlefield 2, players cannot spawn on their squad leader after death. Instead, they spawn at permanent bases, temporary rally points set by squad leaders, or FOBs built after delivering supply crates. Additional supplies allow placement of fixed defenses like machine guns, barbed wire, and foxholes. In Insurgency, insurgents can only spawn at their weapon caches, which they must defend or lose the ability to respawn; the opposing team can locate caches by gathering intelligence, marking them on the map. Insurgents can also build destructible "hideouts" for spawning, similar to FOBs, while conventional forces can build their own FOBs for forward deployment.
