Background
Vancouver entered the playoffs with 117 points; Chicago barely qualified as the eighth seed with 97. It was the third straight year the teams met, Chicago having eliminated Vancouver in six games in the second round in both 2009 and 2010. It was the seventh time in NHL history a team forced a seventh game after trailing 3–0, and the Canucks avoided becoming the fourth team, and the first Presidents' Trophy winner, to lose a series after leading 3–0.
