Daniel Hans Sedin (seh-DEEN; born 26 September 1980) is a Swedish ice hockey executive and former winger who spent his entire 17-season National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Vancouver Canucks from 2000 to 2018. Today, he and his identical twin brother Henrik serve as co-presidents of hockey operations for the Canucks, a fitting capstone to a partnership that began on the frozen ponds of Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The twins were renowned for their almost telepathic chemistry: Daniel, the sniper, piled up over 150 more career NHL goals than Henrik, while Henrik, the playmaker, dished out over 150 more assists than Daniel. In 1,306 games, Daniel racked up 393 goals and 648 assists, making him the Canucks' second-highest all-time points leader—behind only his brother.

Lore & Background
Daniel Sedin's career is a saga of twin telepathy and quiet dominance. Selected second overall by the Canucks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft—one pick ahead of Henrik at third overall—he arrived in the NHL in 2000–01 after four seasons with Modo Hockey in Sweden. The brothers shared the 1999 Guldpucken as Swedish player of the year, a rare honor for a duo. In Vancouver, Daniel broke out during the 2005–06 season, then rattled off six straight campaigns with at least 20 goals and 70 points. The 2010–11 season was his masterpiece: he won the Art Ross Trophy as the league's top scorer and the Ted Lindsay Award as the best player voted by his peers, and was a Hart Trophy finalist. In 2016, he etched his name in franchise history by becoming the Canucks' all-time goal-scoring leader. Alongside Henrik, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022.
Reader's Guide
Daniel Sedin launched his professional career in the Swedish Hockey League with Modo Hockey in 1997, spending four seasons there (including a lockout return in 2004–05) and helping the club reach the Le Mat Trophy Finals in 1999 and 2000, though they fell short both times. Selected second overall by the Canucks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, he made his NHL debut on 5 October 2000, a 6–3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Three nights later, on 8 October 2000, he scored his first NHL goal—a snipe past goaltender Dan Cloutier of the Tampa Bay Lightning—a moment that foreshadowed his future as the franchise's all-time top goal scorer.
