The Core is the Underground's power system in Undertale, located in Hotland. It converts geothermal energy into magical electricity for the monsters, and the game's lore says it was created by W.D. Gaster, the Royal Scientist before Alphys. Mettaton tricks Alphys into helping the human reach the Core so he can kill them there.
