Aberdeen

Scottish champions whose European Cup record is short: a missed debut and a 1984 shoot-out exit.

Aberdeen are a Scottish club from the city of Aberdeen who have stayed in the top division since joining it in 1905.

Lore & Background

Although Aberdeen were league winners at the time, Scotland's place in the first European Cup went to Hibernian by special invitation. Under Alex Ferguson the club's European glory came in the Cup Winners' Cup rather than the European Cup, and in the first round of the 1984-85 European Cup they went out to BFC Dynamo of East Berlin on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
