Yama

The Wolf King of the 40th Floor, where mercy is a stranger.

Yama

via Wikipedia: Chitragupta temple, Kanchipuram · see source

Yama is a towering, wolf-like canine person and one of the most feared High Rankers in the Tower of God universe. He is the iron-fisted ruler of the 40th Floor and the leader of the FUG faction known as the Canine People, a race of human-animal hybrids forged through the Workshop's cruel experiments. Yama's ferocious reputation and immense physical power make him a key figure in the ongoing war against Jahad's empire, though his loyalties within FUG are complex and often driven by his own brutal code—a code that puts the survival of his pack above all else.

Lore & Background

Yama is the undisputed king of the Canine People, a race created by the Workshop to serve as living weapons. Unlike many of his kind, who were born in captivity with diluted bloodlines, Yama was a natural-born canine person, making him a pureblood and the strongest of his race. He rules the 40th Floor with an iron fist, maintaining order through sheer terror and respect for his power—any who challenge him are either devoured or broken. His loyalty to FUG is conditional; he primarily seeks to protect and elevate his people, often clashing with other Slayer Candidates like Karaka for resources and influence, and once spent time in a FUG prison for refusing to bow to their commands.

Reader's Guide

Yama is a High Ranker and one of FUG's most dangerous Slayer Candidates, driven by a fierce protectiveness for the Canine People. His arc explores themes of identity, freedom, and the cost of power, as he struggles to unite his fractured race while navigating FUG's internal politics. His primary power is his immense physical strength and speed, augmented by his wolf-like senses and a unique ability called 'Fang of the Wolf,' which allows him to transform parts of his body into devastating weapons—claws that can tear through steel, fangs that crush bone. He also possesses a 'Transformation' ability that enhances his combat prowess, making him a near-unstoppable force in close quarters. Defining moments include his brutal introduction where he effortlessly defeats a Ranker, his alliance with Yama and other Slayer Candidates during the Last Station battle, and his ongoing rivalry with the Lo Po Bia Family—a family whose use of animal-based Shinheuh he views as a personal insult to his race. Yama's character is defined by his raw, untamed nature—he is a predator first, a leader second, but his loyalty to his people is absolute, and he will tear through anyone who threatens them.
