Bradley Wiggins

From the velodrome to the first British yellow jersey in 2012.

Sir Bradley Wiggins (born 28 April 1980) is an English former road and track cyclist who raced professionally from 2001 to 2016 and in 2012 became the first British winner of the Tour de France. Born in Ghent to an Australian cyclist father, Gary Wiggins, and a British mother, he was raised in London from the age of two. He rode the track until 2008, winning ten world championship medals between 2000 and 2008, six of them gold, and Olympic medals from Sydney 2000 (bronze, team pursuit), Athens 2004 (individual pursuit gold among three medals) and Beijing 2008 (individual and team pursuit golds).

On the road he was first seen as a time triallist and rouleur, then finished fourth in the 2009 Tour, later promoted to third when Lance Armstrong's results were annulled. He is Britain's most decorated Olympian, with eight medals across five Games, and the only rider to hold world and Olympic titles on both track and road.
