Schism Music Video

Adam Jones's stop-motion video for Schism.

The "Schism" video accompanies the first single from Tool's 2001 album Lateralus. Guitarist Adam Jones directed it using stop-motion animation with live actors.

Lore & Background

It follows two humanoids, a male and a female, in a room with what looks like an "X" on the wall, then moves into the blood vessels of a block of flesh taken from the second figure, where a stop-motion creature travels. It ends with the two joined like conjoined twins. A DVD single released on December 20, 2005 carries the video with commentary by David Yow and a Lustmord remix; the song itself won the 2002 Grammy for Best Metal Performance.
