Black Oil Hosts

Infected vessels serving an alien colonization agenda through biological manipulation.

The Black Oil Hosts refer to human subjects infected by a viscous, extraterrestrial pathogen known within the conspiracy as 'Black Oil.' Unlike standard alien abductees who are taken against their will, these individuals have been biologically altered to serve as vessels for an outside intelligence. The black oil can take over a host's body, as it does with Alex Krycek, or incubate an alien inside a human host.

Lore & Background

Under the black oil's influence, Krycek trades a stolen tape to the Smoking Man for the location of an alien ship; the oil then leaves him locked in a missile silo with the ship. The existence of Black Oil Hosts blurred the line between human autonomy and alien control, raising ethical questions about free will within the X-Files mythology. Ultimately, the pathogen represented a more insidious threat than physical invasion, as it allowed the enemy to walk among humanity undetected.

Reader's Guide

The Black Oil pathogen serves as a biological bridge between humanity and the alien colonizers. The Colonists pretended that infection would make humanity a controlled slave race, but in reality the oil gives birth to new alien beings inside human hosts. Its existence proves the conspiracy's intent to replace rather than merely conquer.
