The return of the Knights Radiant marked a resurgence in understanding how to bond with spren to store Stormlight biologically. This allowed them to function as living batteries, sustaining themselves without external vessels during times of crisis. The energy itself is neutral but reactive to intent and oaths. Stormlight functions as a magical battery for the inhabitants of Roshar, serving as the fuel for all Surgebinding abilities. It is absorbed primarily through gemstones or directly by bonded spren during the violent passage of highstorms across the continent. Once stored within vessels like vials or gemstones, it leaks slowly over time unless actively used to fuel specific magical Surges. Users experience a distinct warmth and surge of vitality when channeling this energy into their bodies or weapons. Different Orders utilize specific amounts to activate their abilities, ranging from healing flesh rapidly to manipulating gravity or light. Visual manifestations include glowing veins on skin and bright auras around armor during activation.
