Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu hit theaters in 2026 as a science fiction film from director Jon Favreau, who wrote the script alongside Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Filming started in California in August 2024 and wrapped that December. The movie premiered on May 14, 2026, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, and opened nationwide in the United States on May 22. It earned $345.8 million globally, falling short of Disney’s expectations and becoming the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film. Critics gave it mixed reviews, praising the score, action sequences, and Pascal’s performance, but criticizing the plot, script, and visuals. Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, known as Mando, and his foundling Grogu work for the New Republic hunting down neo-imperialist warlords from the former Empire. After one successful mission, Commander Ward tasks Mando with finding the mysterious warlord Commander Coin.
