Idolmaster Million Live!

39 idols total at the 765 Live Theater, including 26 new faces alongside the original 13.

The Idolmaster Million Live! is a Japanese multimedia spin-off of The Idolmaster series, officially stylized as THE iDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!. It began with a video game released on February 27, 2013, for Android, iOS, and feature phones via the GREE social network. The narrative follows a group of 26 new idols working alongside the original 13 members of 765 Production at the 765 Live Theater under the guidance of a producer. Unlike other spin-offs where groups operate independently, this series emphasizes collaboration between the new talent and the established 765 Production idols. A rhythm game titled Idolmaster Million Live! Theater Days launched on June 29, 2017, becoming the primary title after the original GREE game ended service on March 18, 2018.

Lore & Background

The franchise introduces 39 distinct idols in total, including the 13 established members of 765 Production, meaning 26 new idols join the roster. This unique dynamic sets it apart from other Idolmaster spin-offs, as the new cast interacts directly with the original roster within the shared setting of the 765 Live Theater. The general design and visual elements are credited to A-1 Pictures, known for animating previous series in the franchise. As the project evolved, the game theater grew; specifically, the later release of Theater Days added two new characters (Konomi Baba and Megumi Tokoro), but the total cast remained 39, not 41. Three of these Million Live! characters were also featured in the anime film The Idolmaster Movie: Beyond the Brilliant Future!, further integrating them into the broader universe's narrative history.

Reader's Guide

Players began as producers managing idols through the GREE game (2013–2018), leveling up cards to increase strength and unlocking higher rarities. The current main experience is Theater Days (released June 29, 2017), a rhythm and simulation hybrid featuring 3D models, story missions, and choice-based communication events. Fans can engage with the music through image songs published by Lantis, noting that sales of CDs and concert Blu-rays surpassed one million combined units by 2017; The@ter Generation 01 Brand New Theater! specifically received a Gold certification from the RIAJ.

Visual content includes special anniversary animations by A-1 Pictures: a video for Mirai Kasuga for the first anniversary and a 10-minute animation for the fourth. Manga adaptations include Yuki Monji's series in Monthly Shōnen Sunday (August 2014–October 2016) and Kakuya Inayama's Blooming Clover in Dengeki Maoh (February 2017–October 2023).
