The Gurkish Empire

Kanta's vast empire, ruled by an Emperor and steered by the Prophet Khalul.

The Gurkish Empire was a massive realm that dominated almost the entire Southern Continent of Kanta, ruled by Emperor Uthman-ul-Dosht from the capital Shaffa. Church and state were barely separate: the Prophet Khalul had a considerable, if not dominant, role in government. It was one of the two great empires in the Circle of the World, the other being the Union.

Background

After his master Juvens exiled him to the south to end his feud with Bayaz, Khalul showed his power to the people of Gurkhul by walking naked through a rain of arrows untouched. The Emperor abased himself before him, and as the Prophet, Khalul nurtured Gurkhul into an empire. It takes its name from Gurkhul and holds almost every surrounding country of Kanta, including Kadir, Dawah, Yashtavit, Shamir and Sikkur, by brutal force. Uthman, the previous Emperor's youngest son, strangled his brothers to take the throne, but Khalul manipulates the Empire through his priests and Eaters. Some time after the battle of Adua, Uthman was overthrown, Khalul vanished and the Empire fragmented.
