Reception
Critics were largely favorable toward the season's first episode. Oliver Sava from The A.V. Club found fault with certain jokes, especially those relying on stereotypes about the female characters, but acknowledged the cast's comedic talent. He felt the character development for Sheldon, Penny, and Leonard outweighed the less appealing humor, calling it a solid season opener. Carla Day of TV Fanatic thought the episode had amusing moments but was not among her personal favorites overall. In The Guardian, Euan Ferguson remarked that the show has firmly established itself and continues to improve.
