Mike Napoli

Michael Anthony Napoli, born October 31, 1981 in Hollywood, Florida, played first base and catcher for the Angels, Rangers, Red Sox and Indians and is now assistant bench coach for the Cincinnati Reds. The Angels took him in the 17th round of the 2000 draft.

Mostly a catcher through 2012, he later moved to first base and DH. In January 2011 the Angels traded him to Toronto, which flipped him to Texas four days later for Frank Francisco. His first Rangers season brought a .320 average, 30 homers and 75 RBIs plus better defense, and in Game 5 of the 2011 World Series his two-run double in the eighth put Texas ahead 4-2, though the Rangers lost the series. He holds the single-season strikeout records for both the Red Sox and the Indians.
