Plot

The Marzoa-Medina family, a multigenerational blended household, is turned upside down by an unusual birth. Marcela, who is expecting a child with her partner José "Pepe" Medina, delivers a cartoon boy named Dibu. Each family member has a distinct reaction to the animated newborn. Over time, they adjust to life with Dibu, though they must keep him hidden from certain outsiders to protect him. The cartoon child experiences the same joys and struggles as any real kid. A secondary storyline explores teenage years and the bonds between parents and their children. The series concluded suddenly when its third season introduced a different plot and unfamiliar characters.

Adaptions

The Dibu movie series includes three family-friendly films. The first, released in 1997, was a hit and brought back the cast from the show’s first two seasons, including Nicolás D’Agostino. The 1998 sequel, Dibu 2: Nasty’s Revenge, featured a brand-new plot and a different cast, directed by Carlos Galettini with Emiliano Torres as assistant director, and starring Roberto Carnaghi, Hugo Arana, and Beatriz Thibaudin. The final film, Dibu 3: The Great Adventure, came out in 2002, with Germán Kraus and Stella Maris Closas leading the cast, alongside many original television actors. In Portugal, the franchise was renamed A Minha Família É uma Animação, and the animated main character was called Neco.
