Star Blazers 2202, known in Japan as Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love, is a Japanese military science fiction animated film series produced by Xebec. It serves as the remake of Space Battleship Yamato II and the sequel to Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199, based on the original series by Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Leiji Matsumoto. The series is directed by Nobuyoshi Habara and written by Harutoshi Fukui.

Story
In 2202, three years after the Gamillas invasion, Earth's biosphere has been restored using the Cosmo Reverse System. A peace treaty with Gamillas leads to a joint intergalactic defense fleet centered on the new ship Andromeda, despite Starsha Iscandar's wishes for peace. Earth pursues military expansion and new wave motion gun development. When the White Comet Empire, known as Gatlantis, threatens the galaxy, the goddess Teressa summons the Yamato to fight back.
Production
Producer Shoji Nishizaki first indicated the sequel's development in the Yamato Crew Report Magazine, though it was not yet greenlit. A teaser illustration by Makoto Kobayashi appeared on March 31, 2016, followed by confirmation that Nobuyoshi Habara and Harutoshi Fukui would direct and write. A teaser video later released. Bandai Visual confirmed a theatrical and limited streaming release. In December 2016, Kenjiro Tsuda replaced Keiji Fujiwara as Isami Enomoto, with Hiroshi Kamiya and Masaki Terasoma added to the cast; Sayaka Kanda voiced Teresa. A special trailer featured the song "From Yamato with Love," and a 12-minute preview streamed. The second film released June 24, 2017; the third on October 14, 2017; the fourth on January 27, 2018; the fifth on May 25, 2018; the sixth on November 2, 2018; and the seventh on March 1, 2019. Voyager Entertainment and Funimation licensed the series in North America, with weekly streaming starting May 9, 2018.

Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love debuted in Japanese theaters and on streaming services on February 25, 2017, with Blu-Ray releases following. The theme song is "Space Battleship Yamato 2202" by the Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra and later by Isao Sasaki; ending songs derive from the original anime and film. A TV version aired from October 6, 2018 to March 30, 2019. A novel adaptation by Yuka Minakawa began publication on October 13, 2017, with four volumes released.
